Blue Sky BluesThe boot tapped lightly and repeatedly against the tire, sounding all for the opening beat of a slow blues song. A sigh produced from a distracted and ill-at-ease mind drifted lightly over the beat, providing the lead guitar, and vocals being entirely in his head. The steady chugging of the gas pump completed the three man band with a bassist, sending out its soothing music over the gravel lot that made up the gas station. This far from anything that could remotely be called civilization, it was obviously self-serve, but the man fueling his car didn’t seem to mind. Curiosity and the CatAn oppressive gloom hung about the house as I approached, pervading all of my senses, save but taste. Sight betrayed me as the low evening sun cast shadowy phantoms onto the sides of the house and windows. A strong, shrill wind screamed like a banshee, assaulting my ears with the noise. My nose took in the pungent scent of the rotting garden, dead trees framing half rotten pumpkins and stalks of corn.
